90’s Throwback Weekend!

It’s sort of a 90’s theme around here lately (in case you didn’t know Mis turned 90 last week!) and the dance is 90’s themed so be prepared for some full on throwbacks! Homecoming weekend is already here though! As always there’s a bunch of events planned for the weekend that you should definitely plan on attending!  Here is all of them day by day!

Thursday October, 2
SOAR is doing a paddling series at Frances Slocum from 4:30-6:00 pm. There’s also a 90’s theme dance taking place at 9 in the dining hall. Can you say totally tubular?! (that might be a saying of a different era now that I think about it!) Anyways, you should definitely plan on attending and wearing some cool outfits like we did back in the day and of course jamming out to some Britney and Smash Mouth! In case you’re drawing a blank on what to wear here’s some ideas:
For the girls: think Sabrina the Teenage Witch meets Hit Me Baby One More Time!

You can definitely rock this more grunge-like look or the school girl look, but don’t forget the scrunchie!

For the guys: think Fresh Prince meets Slater (Saved By the Bell!)

Just think colorful and mismatched!
You will definitely also need a playlist to get you in the 90s mindset (Pandora also has 90’s stations that I listen to all the time)! Here’s a list of some songs to prepare you for the flashback:
Steal My Sunshine by Len
Jump by Kris Kross
Spice Up Your Life by The Spice Girls
Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie and the Blowfish
Tubthumping by Chumbawumba
One Week by Barenaked Ladies

Say It Ain’t So by Weezer
Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana

Say My Name by Destiny’s Child
Waterfalls by TLC
Wonderwall by Oasis
Baby One More Time by Britney Spears

Saturday October, 4
Saturday is full of sports events that should make you put on your favorite Mis shirt and go cheer your heart out! It all starts with Cross Country at the Paul Short Invitational at 10:00 am. Then there’s also Women’s Volleyball at 10:00 in Grantham, PA, where they face Messiah and Lycoming. The football team takes on Widener at their home field at 1:00 pm. At 2:00 the field hockey team faces Manhattanville. The women’s soccer team goes up against King’s with home field advantage at 5:00 pm. The men’s soccer team also has home field advantage against King’s at 7:00 pm. There’s also a chance to do the MU Challenge course from 9-11 am.

Hey I'm Allison or otherwise known as Alligator. I am currently a senior (yay grad school!) at MU studying speech-language pathology. I love MU because it reminds me of my high school; it's a tight-knit community where people hold doors for you no matter how far away you are. My favorite time on campus is in the fall, it is absolutely gorgeous. When I'm not studying I'm either reading or watching Netflix (yes I am a junkie). I also really love food, so cooking and baking are fun too!
