It’s Finally Fall!

It’s that time of year again where the world gets over taken by pumpkin EVERYTHING! There’s pumpkin lattes, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin pancakes, and even pumpkin peanut butter (what?)! It’s a sure sign for fall though, a lot of peoples favorite time of the year. There’s still just as many activities to do at Mis during the Fall as there is during the Spring. One event that has already come and gone is the Dallas Harvest Festival, which is an awesome kickoff to fall. Whether its an event you attend, a place you go to to see awesome fall foliage, or an activity you do to get in the fall mood, there is plenty of stuff to keep you busy! Here’s some stuff you should try!

Events

Lake Lehman Fall Craft Show– It takes place at Lake Lehman High School on November 22 from 10-3 pm. They have anything craft related from wreaths to candy to quilted pieces.

Wyoming OktoberfestAt the Midway Shopping Center in Wyoming, Pa it takes places October 3-5, all ages permitted, with ethnic food, music and games.

Sweet Valley Fall Harvest Festival– On Main Road, Sweet Valley, Pa on October 11 & 12 with food, games, tractor pulls and hay rides.

Knoebels Hallo-Fun– At Knoebels October 10-12, where the park turns into a Halloween themed thrill attraction, with food, games and spooky rides.

Places

Fear Hollow– In Mountain Top, a walk-through scare attraction, that is deemed “high intensity” and they have an outdoor interactive haunted trail.

Screamin Demons Haunts– At the Luzerne County Fairgrounds, a haunted house unlike any other.

Reaper’s Revenge– In Scranton, they have four different attractions such as a haunted house, a haunted maze, a haunted carnival and an indoor pitch black maze.

Dymond’s Farm– Take a hay ride through the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin and go through their two acre corn maze.

Braces Orchard– For apple picking and enjoying fresh apple cider.

Roba Family Farms– For pumpkin picking, hay rides, pumpkin cannons and apple picking.

Activities

Carving Pumpkins– We’ve all done it, but mix it up this year by using a template to make an extreme and unique pumpkin.

Painting Pumpkins– Carving them can be a little messy, but painting them is really fun because it really lets your creativity out!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies– I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin, but these are way too good to pass up.

Ricketts Glen State Park– Go hiking here right as the leaves are changing and I swear you won’t regret it!

Candied Apples– You’ve already done the apple picking so why not make it a little sweet with a chocolate, caramel or candy coating!

On Campus

Mis usually has a Halloween dance, that you will need an awesome costume for, so make sure you pick one that’s easy and cheap!

Also the residence halls usually hold a trick-or-treat session for the local kids, so make sure you stalk up on some candy so you can see all of the little Captain Americas and Elsas running around!

Make sure you attend a sports game especially a football game so you can go tailgating! That’s the perfect way to get into the fall spirit!

Mis is surrounded by graveyards, if you’re looking for something to do close by, go ahead and walk through all of them at night!

Also, stop worrying about trying to get the perfect fall Insta pic! Take your friends out and play in the leaves while you snap some pictures to get an awesome fall candid shot!

About alliegatormu

Hey I'm Allison or otherwise known as Alligator. I am currently a senior (yay grad school!) at MU studying speech-language pathology. I love MU because it reminds me of my high school; it's a tight-knit community where people hold doors for you no matter how far away you are. My favorite time on campus is in the fall, it is absolutely gorgeous. When I'm not studying I'm either reading or watching Netflix (yes I am a junkie). I also really love food, so cooking and baking are fun too!
